Your Blog looks fascinating and I am now following.
I like your descriptive work on Castro Alves (Slavery).
One of my childhood memories is of playing under "Wilberforces" Oak in Kent, England. See:

He was instrumental in bringing about the abolition of slavery (By the British at least) and the imposition of a British Naval Blockade against the ships transporting slaves.
